Leatherface - 2000 - Horsebox

Posted on November 17, 2008 in Adobe Audition

"Frankie Stubbs has delivered another manifesto of emotional overload, of vocal heart meltdown on record for a solid 47 minutes. Delivering the first Leatherface album of new material in six years, Horsebox is another stunning achievement of brain, brawn, guts, pathos, and liquid fire. Even without the gut-wrenching cover of Nick Cave's "Ship Song," it's clear these guys don't just pummel you senseless — they flat out know how to , and Stubbs writes and arranges in an extremely mature manner that feels more complex the more you hear the individual parts. Horsebox is so charged, it's as stubborn to get into as it is to do descriptive justice to, but it also entices from the first play. Stubbs continues to work in mid-tempo material, with passages where the guitars drop out or merely pick at power-lead parts. He and second guitarist Leighton Evans are at their call-and-answer best on the bridge of the most melodic killer "Closing Time," following a passage that's merely bobbing bass and tremendous drumming. "Lorrydrivers Son" and "Box Jellyfish" are two more melodic, meticulously picked gems that give some break from the gale. A criticism? Perhaps they could go out on a limb a little more. It would be good to show more people the deeper ranges of Stubbs' tastes and abilities. That such a bomb like this could be dropped is some kind of miracle — a marvel doubled when one considers that this band was thought dead forever a few years ago. Like all the hottest LPs, it will take you a few plays for its more discriminating qualities to take hold, for its emotional center to reveal itself amidst the volcanic eruptions, aside from the sound of Stubbs' headlong imploring. And once it does, watch out." ~ AMG Label: Better Youth Organization Catalog#: 68 Released: 13 Jun 2000 Genre: Rock Submitted by: cauchyriemann Tracklisting: 01 Sour Grapes (4:01) 02 Evo Pop (3:28) 03 Soundbites (2:48) 04 Watching You Sleep (2:36) 05 True Colours (2:46) 06 Grip (3:13) 07 Choice (4:23) 08 Lorrydrivers Son (4:23) 09 Ship Song (3:27) 10 Eddy Bumble (2:20) 11 Closing Time (3:32) 12 Wing Ding (3:21) 13 Kill DJ's (4:12) 14 Box Jellyfish (3:53) cheap corel draw cheap microsoft office

Anthony Atala's work on engineered bladders

Posted on November 13, 2008 in Autodesk Architectural Studio

"In terms of actually engineering a complex construct that we engineer outside the body, and then we implant inside the body, this is really the first time we've been able to do that," said Dr. Anthony Atala of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., lead author of the research, which is published in the April 4, 2006 issue of the medical journal Lancet. The experiments did not replace the entire bladder. But if you think of the bladder as a light bulb, Atala's team replaced a large piece of the round part of the bulb, he said, and they ultimately hope to do the whole bulb. That will involve added challenges in hooking up the new bladder to the tubes that come down from the kidney, he said. There is a patent connection here. Atala, who was at Children's Hospital in Boston for years but recently moved to Wake Forest University, serves on the board of directors of a company that has licensed patents based on the bladder tissue engineering. *** In the reported experiment, surgeons took out a piece of each patient's bladder much smaller than a postage stamp. The cells were grown in a nourishing culture and placed along a scaffold that was molded much like a dome, said Dr. Alan B. Retik, surgeon-in-chief at Children's. Then, the dome-shaped structure was connected to the remaining bladder, which had been cut wide open to receive it, and together, the two parts made a ball-shaped organ. The tissue engineers began with about 1 million cells taken from each patient's bladder, Atala said, and by the time they were ready to re-implant the new piece of bladder about seven weeks later, the engineered cells totaled 1.5 billion. The article refers to the procedure of the past as the current "gold standard." The tissue-engineering approach still needs extensive testing among other patients before it can be adopted as a substitute, according to a commentary that accompanied the Lancet article and was written by Steve Y. Chung of the Advanced Urology Institute of Illinois. For now, he wrote, using the intestine must remain the gold standard. The article also noted: The tissue engineering cost about $4,000 per patient , he said, though the entire treatment, including weeks of hospitalization, costs much more. The Lancet paper was 16 years in the making , Atala said; the actual operations on the patients took place between 1999 and 2001, but it seemed critical to make sure that the improvements in bladder function, and the overall safety of the technique, lasted. Now, he said, he hopes that the technique can be tried on a wider variety of patients with defective bladders. *** Dr. Anthony Atala is the scientific founder of Tengion, which has an extensive intellectual property foundation licensed from the Children's Hospital Boston. Among the A round investors are: Oak Investment Partners; Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation; HealthCap, and L Capital Partners. Tengion was founded by Scheer & Company which was responsible for managing the Company's operations in the first stage of its life cycle. Scheer & Company is best known as the founder of Esperion Therapeutics, Inc., now a division of Pfizer, Inc. Don't forget Kansas in the stem cell race?

Posted on November 11, 2008 in Autodesk 3ds Max

"It's safe to say that every state in the country is targeting the life sciences as a major growth industry," said Jim Greenwood, president of the national Biotechnology Industry Organization, at a presentation last week during BIO 2006, the industry's flourishing national convention. [One wonders if state investment in biotech will give taxpayers a good return on their money? Kansas has a $580 million bioscience initiative, comparable to New Jersey's proposed stem cell effort.] (...) Whether those states are spending their money wisely, however, is an open question. In Florida, critics have angrily denounced the $500 million in taxpayer money given to the private Scripps Research Institute to build an offshoot of its California medical-research campus. (...) A lesson? Even when states are able to lure small companies, the benefits can be short-term. In 2002, South Carolina beat North Carolina in a high-profile bidding war by offering more than $10 million in grants, tax credits, and other assistance to entice a small pharma company called Pilot Therapeutics to the state. Today, the company is out of business. (...) Of Kansas --> "You can't do it in a vacuum," Phelps said, citing the Greater Boston area's support infrastructure, biotech-trained workforce, and proximity to other companies. "I don't know what advice I'd give Kansas." [from Stephen Heuser, The Boston Globe, April 16, 2006] cheap microsoft office cheap corel draw

"VC are like cloned sheep ... they will follow."

Posted on November 11, 2008 in Autodesk 3ds Max

Noting that only $120 million of $5.9 billion in biotech venture capital went to stem cell research in 2005, Terri Somers suggested reasons including scientific uncertainties, intellectual property issues and the lack of any clear path to make a return on investments in stem cell-based companies. I think the bigger reason is that no venture capitalist sees a payout in the seven year or less timescale. Fred Schwartzer was quoted: When a venture capital firm looks at a company and decides whether it will invest, the members ask themselves: "Who will buy this and how will I get out of this with a profit?" He is also quoted: "VC are like cloned sheep ... they will follow." [IPBiz: probably not the right philosophy to develop a field from the ground floor.] Separately -->"In Alberta, Canada, there's no money," said Craig Sherbourne, corporate counsel at Stem Cell Therapeutics there. "There's been a vacuum for years." [ An interesting question from IPBiz: will state funding of stem cell research fill the void left by the absence of large scale federal funding AND VC funding, or will it create a monstrous patent thicket of academic "basic science" patents that set back progress in the field back for years? Recall what the Supreme Court justices said about the Metabolite patent. Rather than filling a void, balkanized state funding might create an obstacle course of molehills. cheap corel draw cheap microsoft office

Will NTP Have More Leverage on Blackberry(R)?

The Most Important Decision You Will Ever Make

Posted on October 12, 2008 in CorelDRAW Graphics

by David Shade Napoleon Hill wrote in "Think And Grow Rich" that the most important decision you will ever make is your selection of a wife. So very true. And, more basically, your success or failure at giving women incredible pleasure begins with your choice in women. email from Adam M in the U.K.: Thank you for your great Manual. Since reading it I have picked a fantastic woman to have a relationship with. She is very sexual, and using the advice in your book I have trained her to have multiple vaginal orgasms, nipple orgasms, and turned her on to anal sex. She absolutely loves to get fucked by me, and can't get enough, and I love to give her pleasure by obliging her :) My comments: Adam, you chose wisely, and you were man enough to lead her through experiences that she may or may not have even dreamt of. What you have done is you have allowed her to truly enjoy everything about being a woman. I have no doubt that it makes you feel like a MAN. You have the right mind set when you say that you give her pleasure by obliging her. So true. Women actually WANT this. But they can't do it alone. They need a man that they can trust, a man that they can loose control with, a man that can lead her through all the experiences that bring out the ruthlessly expressive natural woman in her. And then, when a woman is wildly crazy about her man, SHE CAN'T GET IT ENOUGH! Period. And of course, picking the Really Good Ones makes it all so much easier and much more enjoyable. email from Ken: I love everything about women. You phrase all that, I believe, so perfectly. But I want a woman who I can have an amazing life with, especially sexually. But I don't know how to find the combo of both. Is there some test to find out if a girl just wants you as a tool after you give her amazing sex, or wants you for life. I want to love one girl completely and no one else... it sucks they don't want the same all the time. Ken. My comments: I have answered that same question from many guys. They give a woman really good sex (so they say) but they can't keep her. I have met with these men personally and talked to them at length. There is a common denominator among these men. They do not command respect. Plain and simple. And that is because they do not respect themselves, nor do they demand respect. If you don't command respect, you WILL be a tool. It may be that she found you fun to be with, but decided at some point to not take you seriously. And she needs to take you seriously in order for you to give her really good sex. But then, different people have different definitions for what really good sex is. Another thing that might be going on is that you do not present yourself as long term relationship potential. Some guys can bait the woman by being an exciting alternative or funny as hell, but never show their real selves or intentions, or never stop being funny. A woman cannot really take that seriously. Decide what it is you want, and be the man that lives that life. If you don't know what you want, you probably won't get it. For most people, knowing what you must have comes with experience, reflecting upon the reality of those experiences, and a very basic knowledge of some simple psychology. With every woman that you are with, you gain insight into what you really want in a woman and what you really don't want. Being in touch with reality as you reflect upon that gives you a healthy filter through which to identify the important things. And knowing what makes healthy relationships exist between healthy people distills the list to the really critical things. It could also be that the women you have been with have sensed something about you that makes them decide that you are not long term relationship material. And that 'thing' is usually that she looses respect. I teach you all about respect and how to command it, in my Manual. Or, you are not selecting wisely. One common problem is that a lot of men are distracted by a woman's looks to the point of overlooking everything else. They get hooked on the sex in a mismatched relationship that goes from bad to worse, and eventually tragically ends, leaving him feeling defeated and deflated, leaving him farther away from having a fulfilling relationship. Believe me, I've been there. Big time. But what would it feel like to be with a woman that you are very attracted to and who is wildly crazy about you? A woman who believes in you and supports you completely. A woman who is highly responsive to you sexually. A woman who loves doing all the wild taboo things that you've always wanted a woman to do with you. And a woman who's got what it takes to stick with you. And I've been there too. It feels awesome. It requires finding the right woman and then leading her through the experiences that awaken her female sexuality and her inner ruthlessly expressive slut. And that requires knowing what the really important things are and how to identify them in a woman. I have spent decades of studying and trial and error to find those things that are really important to find in a woman. And I teach you exactly how to identify those traits in a woman, in my Masterful Lover "Manual.". And most of the fun in the Manual is bringing out the slut in her! Yummy. Women NEED men. She cannot initiate sex, but she wants it. She cannot be a slut, but she wants to be slutty. She NEEDS a man who can lead her, but she can't FIND one! That's where YOU come in. You are the Masterful Lover who is going to awaken her untapped sexual potential and make her wild with desire and totally crazy about you! That's when a woman is most fulfilled. It's what she has always dreamed about. It's what she NEEDS! She NEEDS you! email from Randy: Hi David, Even though I've immersed myself in all your teachings over the last year and have reproduced almost all of your 'discoveries', it is still fun to hear you talk about the joys of being a masterful lover and the exciting journey us lucky few take while getting there. I met this girl who is 21 (I'm 32) and even though I prefer older women, the general makeup of women in these parts (religious fanatics) severely limits my options in that age bracket. I probably should get Major Mark's "Scoring With Married Women" book, but that just sounds troublesome... (lol) These young girls, even the daddy's girls who fit the 'profile' just don't respond. Last night, after throwing just about everything in the book at her and then some, I finally was able to get her to cum. (deep spot and hummer simultaneously) Even at that, it was only clitoral. At this point with the non-responders, I'm not all too inspired to continue. So I usually don't set up situations that will get sexual and let the relationship fade into the past. I'm wondering if maybe I should put the young ones on more of a simmer and slooooowly bring their sexuality out. I'd love to see them blossom that way, but I don't want to spin my wheels when I could be investing my time looking for Good Ones. I know, I know, it all depends on the girl... I figure, as long as the girl is healthy, she will come around, but how long that takes, no one knows. I'm thinking that I can't go in halfway with the relationship though. The thing that seems to be lacking with young women is trust and confidence. I think they want the closeness of a very defined boyfriend/girlfriend relationship and once they believe in that, will open up to trusting and being confident enough to be sexually experimental. But at this point in my life, I don't like to put all my eggs in one basket before the woman shows me that she can be responsive to me and be a powerfully sexual woman. It's a standoff! Any thoughts? Ideally I would prefer to just have more choices with women. I may move to a bigger city. But before I do that, I'm going to see how far I can take my socializing and pick-up skills (my weakness compared to my sex and relationship skills, ironically enough). Hahaha, I have to interrupt this letter to say that just as I was typing that last sentence, one of my ex-girlfriends knocked on my door. She is the one that said I was lousy in bed and inspired me to find your book. I had her cuming within twenty minutes! lol!!! She just left (grinning ear to ear, no less). What was I saying... Yeah, can you offer any insights into the concept of getting younger women to blossom? Or do you find it to be more productive to just go for the experienced ones (even though sometimes they become very adept at very young ages... there was this eighteen year old that pretty much raped me before I learned your stuff... wow. If only I could go back! Oh, and I have to say, she was like your phone sex girls for me. She was the one that had me thinking: "there is something more to women; something I have not discovered.") That's all. Hope to meet you someday. Regards, Randy My comments: I bet you do wish that you had learned my stuff before you met that eighteen year old that pretty much raped you. May that be a lesson for others. Learn this stuff now. You want to be prepared for when a Really Good One comes along. As you know, it is typical that it takes you by surprise when a Really Good One appears. May that also tell you that "young woman" does not always mean "frigid woman." But as for your current situation... The standard social programming tells us that the young women want the closeness of a very defined boyfriend/girlfriend relationship to open up to trusting and being confident enough to be sexually experimental. Especially if they are from a religious fanatic background. But that is not an entirely accurate representation of what women actually do. Major Mark once said that the wildest ones were the preacher's daughters, closely followed by preacher's wives. The standard social programming tells us that there must be commitment before there can be sexuality. But that is not an entirely accurate representation of what women actually do. Many women engage in sexuality before any commitment/relationship has been articulated. And many women have "friends with benefits" or have affairs. My guess is that you are subscribing to that social programming. You are selling yourself as commitment/relationship material just to get to the sexuality. Women will expect you to be what you advertise yourself as being. And if they want to be part of it, they will act accordingly. And when you sell yourself as one thing, but you are actually looking for something else, you are being incongruent. And women can smell that. You may very well be getting passed up by the highly sexual women who don't want a relationship because you are acting like you do. It is fine to want to have more choices with women. But understand that it will only be among those women who want to be part of what you advertise yourself as being. Decide what it is you want, and be congruent with that. Act accordingly. Be prepared for when a Really Good One comes along. And if you prefer women closer to your age, only date them! There are plenty of 30 something available women. Have you scanned the internet dating sites lately? Focus on those women. And learn to select the really worthy ones in my Masterful Lover "Manual." When you read it, you will understand how it makes so much sense. We as men have not been taught how to choose women correctly. I know I certainly chose wrong in the past. Big time! So I decided that I had to figure it out. I had to discover what are those things that she must have in order that the relationship will be fulfilling and successful. After many years of trial and error, and lots and lots of study, I have concentrated the essential things that she MUST have. And I designed the quick and easy ways to know if she HAS them. It is all in my Masterful Lover Manual. Even though you will learn all the really advanced stuff to give women indescribable pleasure, it will be the lessons on how to choose women wisely that may server you the most. http://www.masterful-lover.com/manual.html If you have questions, I've made it easy for you to ask. I want to hear all the perverted demented things that you and your woman have experienced together. Those stories always get a personal response. Give women incredible pleasure, David Shade
