Grandpa

It's eleven years ago since my grandfather past away. I have fond memories of him. Though I've never seen him shoot, in his days he was an avid photographer. My father once recalled how he had to help his father regularly in the dark room developing negatives and making prints. Grandpa at the Openlucht Museum, Arnhem. Scan from 10x15 print My grandmother over the years has given away these prints to the people in the photos. Last time I was able to visit her, she gave me a metal box with some 30 odd rolls of negatives, mostly old Ilford B&W film from the 1950s: some(?) of my grandfather's films! :) Grandma and granddaughter. Epson R-D1 Minolta Rokkor-M 40/2 film setting: iso200, shutter time & aperture unknown Scanning them is a chore. First, I have to cut the film in strips that fit the negative holder. Then I have to undust these strips before I can start scanning them. And I hate scanning. It's the one reason why I went digital with the Epson R-D1 as soon as I could afford it. Scanning takes so much time it gets tedious after having run through 4-5 strips. And with over 30 rolls ahead of me, I don't feel much inclined to get started anyway. Yet I want to see what's on these rolls.... Scheveningen beach, ca 1954.
